Experience STEAM Day, held in Jyväskylä, Finland on April 20th, 2023, served as a remarkable platform for university students, teachers, and researchers interested in integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) into their teaching practices.

The event witnessed the active participation of over 30 professionals, including educators, researchers, and experts from Finland, the USA, Sweden, Canada, India, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Hungary, and Japan. The Experience STEAM Day commenced with a series of captivating presentations and workshops, among which was an insightful introduction to the noteworthy accomplishments of the STEAMteach Erasmus+ project. Attendees thus had the opportunity to explore the range of materials and tools available through the STEAMTeach project.

Kristof Fenyvesi, a researcher from JYU Innovative Learning Environments Team, who also served as the local coordinator for the project in Finland, provided an in-depth overview of its main achievements.

Additionally, Charlotte Graham, a school principal, and Philippe Longchamps, an acclaimed STEAM teacher, delivered a talk on their Climate Hackathon project, Hallå Celsius. They also unveiled their publication, ‘Transformative Education: A Showcase of Sustainable and Integrative Active Learning.’

Zdenka Guadarrama from the USA hosted an engaging workshop during the event, focusing on the integration of creativity in teaching mathematics. Furthermore, she provided attendees a guided tour of the Virtual Museum of Art in Math Teaching.

As a token of appreciation, participants received a creative mathart puzzle called Nodus, designed by Murray Heasman, which combined the art of Celtic knots with a cognitive puzzle.
